Research Project Coordinator
The Public Health Institute (PHI) is a large non-profit public health organization conducting a broad range of public health research, training, and technical assistance programs in California, throughout the nation, and around the world. PHI is seeking a full time Research Project Coordinator for the Child Health and Development Studies (CHDS). This position is located in Berkeley, CA.
The Research Project Coordinator coordinates daily tasks of the Three Generations of Breast Cancer Study at CHDS.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily tasks of the project (Prepare mailings for the AA, order study supplies, speak to study participants on the phone who have concerns/questions, distribution of incentives to study participants)
- Implements project protocols and prepares instruction manual(s) for study tracking system.
- Coordinates tracking of project information.
- Assigns work of the Project Assistant (Administrative Assistant)
- Responsible for timeliness and quality of data.
- Prepares progress reports on a bi-weekly basis and other reports as needed.
- Utilizes database and internet tools to locate address information for cohort members and train others, as needed, on the usage of these tools.
- Participates in bi-monthly conference calls with Columbia University collaborators and EMSI to discuss study progress.
- Develops simple data management systems as needed.
- Create electronic files for transfer to SRC and EMSI weekly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a health-related field.
- 3+ years experience creating, developing, coordinating and implementing projects in the nonprofit arena, including management of funds.
- Familiarity with research processes and data management. Experience with epidemiology research strongly preferred.
- Good judgment and decision making skills.
- Capacity to gather and analyze information relative to project objectives and overall mission of organization and to formulate project plans accordingly.
- Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, as well as cohort members who have questions or concerns about participating in a study.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in small groups. Ability to set and meet own deadlines, and take strong initiative on projects.
- Aptitude to prioritize among competing demands, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and the Internet.
- Data management experience is required.

This is an exempt position and the salary is commensurate with experience.
