Projects
Building Capacity to Advance the Health and Well-Being of California's Adolescents
This project provides information, resources and expertise to support the provision of quality health care services to adolescents. This project seeks to increase the capacity of adolescent health providers and maternal, child and adolescent programs in local health jurisdictions to promote teen health, and to influence policy to improve the health and well being of California's adolescents.
Health Status of Rural Latino Youth in California
This project is creating three fact sheets on the health status of Latino youth in rural California. The fact sheets will present the data on indicators of health and well-being, as well as identify gaps in data sources and provide recommendations to promote rural Latino adolescents' health. The fact sheets will synthesize existing data, key informant interviews and youth focus groups.
Integrating Prevention and Intervention: A School Health Center Program to Promote Healthy Relationships
The California Adolescent Health Collaborative will serve as prime on this proposed community-partnered participatory study to extend the Healthcare Education, Assessment & Response Tool for Teen Relationships to high school-based health centers to test, via a 2-armed cluster randomized controlled trial, a multi-level intervention to reduce adolescent relationship abuse among adolescents ages 14-18.
Promoting Child and Youth Safety: Community Initiatives and Public Awareness
The Healthcare Education, Assessment & Response Tool for Teen Relationships (HEART) Primer and Training Project is educating providers across California to identify and respond to relationship abuse among teen patients. Assessment and intervention for adolescent relationship abuse in every clinical encounter will increase teen safety and reduce violence victimization and perpetration.
Youth Access to Referrals from Schools for Sexual Health Services
The California Adolescent Health Collaborative will scan the laws and regulations of all 50 states to identify those that facilitate or prohibit school-based linkages and referrals of adolescent students for sexual and reproductive health services. The scan will provide a rich national picture of multiple levels of laws and policies and their interactions with one another.
