2008 Diabetes ConferenceOrlando, FloridaHosted by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, this conference will bring together more than 600 participants from a wide range of governmental agencies and private-sector diabetes partners. Unlocking Hidden Potential for Health Policy ReformNew Orleans, LousianaThis year's National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) annual conference will focus on building strong components of health promotion, improvement and disease prevention in national, state, and local health system reform. Conference attendees will include a diverse mix of public health professionals, including representatives from established and emerging public health institutes, state and local health departments, and national partners and trade organizations. Plenary sessions will involve national leaders and senior staff from public health institutes who will address topics related to the conference theme. Roundtable discussions will involve representatives from public health institutes, health policy centers and national partner organizations who will lead discussions on organizational infrastructure, cutting edge programs, research and policy activities that relate to the conference themes. There will also be an NNPHI Best Practices Showcase of public health institutes working in varied landscapes that will highlight the best of what they do during an energizing panel discussion of best practices.
