Sierra Health Fdn - Social Determinants of Health Discussion

Sierra Health Foundation is pleased to welcome Dr. Richard Pan to Sierra Health Foundation on July 1 from 10 a.m. to noon for a discussion about the Social Determinants of Health. Dr. Pan will talk about the factors other than health care that influence health, including a person's socioeconomic condition, environment, education, income and individual behavior choices — factors that have come to be known as the Social Determinants of Health. "Partners in Health" Book Signing

Oakland, CA

Meet authors of a new collection of work from 22 leading health system experts, including Francis Crosson and Laura Tollen from Kaiser Permanente and Stephen Shortel from the University of California, Berkeley. Entitled "Partners in Health: How Physicians and Hospitals Can Be Accountable Together", the book offers myriad strategies and recommendations for collaboration aimed at improving our health care system. Hosted by the Public Health Institute, the reception and book signing will be held at PHI headquarters in Oakland from 4:30-6:30 pm (PST).

The Foundation for NIH, the mHealth Alliance and the National Institutes of Health are requesting presentations and abstracts for the 2010 mHealth Summit. To be held November 8-10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., the meeting will focus on the intersection of mobile technology and health research and policy. Deadline for submissions is July 16 at noon.

Tenth Binational Health Week

This year, the BHW will take place in 40 states in the U.S. and 3 provinces in Canada, with the participation of the consular networks in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Health Week will feature three national campaigns to promote awareness among the underserved Latino community: Obesity and Diabetes, Oral Health, and Prevention of Addictions and Gang Involvement among Adolescents. California Adolescent Health Conference

Hosted by the California Adolescent Health Collaborative (CAHC), this conference will highlight healthy transitions for “tweens,” teens and young adults.
