Center for Research on Women’s and Children’s Health
A Center for research and policy development with the objectives of basic epidemiological
research and the translation of research to public policy and program evaluation. Since 1997, the Center has also been
home to the Child Health and Development Studies, a 40-year follow-up study of 20,000 pregnancies
that is a unique resource for investigation of the health determinants over a life span, beginning
even before birth. |

CHDS scientists study how health and disease are passed on between generations—not just by genes,
but also through social, personal and environmental surroundings. CHDS studies will uncover ways
