Suparna Ferreira, MBA, MHS
Suparna Ferreira, MBA, MHS, is the founder and CEO of Bienestar, a startup social entrepreneurship expected to launch by mid-2013 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Bienestar will help low- to middle-income people manage their weight through a lifestyle change approach that is holistic, self-reliant, culturally appropriate, fun – and balances body, mind and spirit. Bienestar aims to improve each person’s well-being.
Ferreira has worked globally for 20 years, 10 years of which have been in health care. Her experience includes management, consulting and performance improvement in development banks, financial services, health care management services organizations, medical foundations and nonprofit health care organizations. She has worked with teams from the U.S., India, Singapore, Mexico, England and Switzerland.
Ferreira was a financial services consultant/investment banker for KPMG/India and helped United Healthcare find a partner in India before heading strategy for the company. In the U.S., she served as director for strategy and business development for Sutter Health.
Ferreira received her MBA in finance in India and a master’s in health sciences from Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Bienestar is a startup social entrepreneurship that is slated to launch in Guadalajara, Mexico, by mid-2013. The nonprofit will offer an affordable, culturally sensitive, holistic and fun program for achieving weight management and well-being. Bienestar’s approach will be grounded in an understanding that lifestyle choices are at the heart of the explosion in obesity and chronic illness. It will focus on understanding habit, incentives for change and overcoming barriers. Bienestar will serve low- and moderate-income people.
