Rising Uninsured Rate Among Low-Income Women Ages 18-64 in California

Using mainly 2009 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS 2009) collected after the initial effects of the recent, severe economic downturn, this policy brief examines disparities in health status, health conditions, health insurance coverage, and health care access among low-income California women ages 18-64 years. The findings show that between 2007 and 2009 low-income women's uninsured rate increased from 40.8% to 45.7%.
