What Do Guatemalan Households Say About LPG?

Through market research in Guatemala, PHI identified the key motivators for women who cook with propane gas (LPG), including ease of use, speed and convenience. The study also found important barriers to market growth, including safety concerns; distrust of LPG suppliers and retailers; unfamiliarity with how to cook with gas and difficulty comparing the cost of LPG with other fuels.
PHI held a participatory workshop with LPG industry stakeholders to share these findings and assist industry refine its market strategy and improve customer service. In the course of the meeting, industry representatives outlined a number of strategies to address problem areas.
