Brief Intervention (BI):
BI has been evaluated, proven to be effective in substance abuse prevention and other health-promotion issues in the U.S. and elsewhere, and applied outside traditional settings. The objectives of BI are: 1) Provide brief education for substance abuse and HIV risk reduction utilizing the risk assessments, 2) Educate about hazardous substance use and HIV risk behavioral patterns and advise to reduce or stop substance use and HIV risk behaviors addressing discrepancies ideal and actual behaviors with non-judgmental manner, and 3) Present a menu of options for substance abuse treatment and HIV prevention programs, and facilitate the participants to contact with the service agencies.
