Position Summary

FACES for the Future Coalition (www.facesforthefuture.org) is an innovative national health career pathway program designed to work with underserved high school students interested in careers in health, public health, mental and behavioral health, and global health. Originally founded in 1999 at Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland, the program has been replicated throughout California as well as in Albuquerque, NM and Denver, CO. Our work at Public Health Institute includes new program development, providing technical assistance for existing FACES programs, curriculum development and overall program evaluation.

The FACES for the Future Coalition is looking for a Program Coordinator for the FACES program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This person’s primary responsibility will be the maintenance of program relationships in Albuquerque. The Program Coordinator will work to guarantee that program materials are current and relevant, host advisory committee meetings, and ensure that open and regular communication exists with all program partners and stakeholders including health care professionals, health agency administration, school administration, teachers, alumni, students and other community-based organizations serving Albuquerque. The Program Coordinator will be based in Albuquerque and be trained and managed remotely by the FACES for the Future Coalition staff at Public Health Institute in Oakland, California. The FACES for the Future Coalition will provide materials, fundraising support and program evaluation.

Employment Type: Full Time

Full pay range for this position: $22.47 to $31.31 per hour. The typical hiring range for this position is from $22.47 (minimum) to $26.89 (midpoint) per hour. The starting wage is determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with key program stakeholders and health professionals who have provided internship supervision to FACES students.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with education partners, including participating in events at partner high schools, health fairs, recruitment events and community showcases as needed.
  • Maintains communication with community agencies that have provided resources and wellness support services for FACES students in previous program years.
  • Maintains outreach and communication with FACES Albuquerque program alumni, connecting them to support and resources as necessary.
  • Maintains connections with returning students to ensure students are accessing community resources as needed.
  • Develops and disseminates marketing / informational materials, meeting agendas, and stakeholder update emails as necessary.
  • Assists FACES Coalition in preparing, scheduling, and facilitating FACES Albuquerque Advisory Committee Meetings on a quarterly basis.
  • Works with students returning to partnering schools according to CDC and school district guidelines.
  • Participates in online learning with the FACES Coalition team as needed.
  • Works independently while cognizant of scope and boundaries of the Program Coordinator position.
  • Works in tandem with the mission and goals of the FACES for the Future best practice program model.
  • Maintains and organizes adequate documentation, databases and all program materials, including, but not limited to, alumni information, curriculum, workshops and evaluation.  Completes progress reports and updates to FACES Coalition Leadership when requested.
  • Participates in FACES Coalition team meetings as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the FACES Program Manager & Program Director.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of related experience.
  • High School Diploma required.

Other Qualifications

  • General knowledge of current health care delivery systems, both hospital-based and community-based as well as general knowledge of careers and pathways for health, public health, mental and behavioral health, and global health.
  • Experience working with high school aged youth and in particular under-represented, high-risk youth populations in essential.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, problem solving, dependability and integrity.
  • Ability to exercise cultural competency and manage multiple types of relationships in professional, educational and outreach settings including moving effortlessly between relationships with students and families, educators and health professionals.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Must be flexible, adaptable and responsive to changing work priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point (Microsoft Office). Familiarity with Access is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Albuquerque health and academic landscape a plus.
  • Must have available transportation (public, private or rideshare, etc.) and ability to commute to various locations (at least 3) within a workday.
  • If the incumbent is driving their own vehicle to the various locations, they must:
    • have a valid and unexpired driver’s license, an available and reliable vehicle, a valid vehicle registration, and vehicle insurance.
    • have the ability to drive frequently to various locations in Albuquerque, NM area.
    • be able to qualify for PHI’s insurance policy. A DMV motor vehicle record will be requested.
  • Must be community oriented and highly motivated.
  • Experience working with and/or for non-profits organizations is helpful.
  • Bi-lingual / Multi-lingual candidates highly preferred.
