Position Summary

The Program Manager II of the PHI’s Center for Health Leadership and Impact (CHLI) will manage a growing workforce and leadership portfolio.  This self-starter will innovate new areas of work both nationally and in California, will contribute to program development and needs to be a strong team player.  Reporting to the Co-Directors, this position is part of the management team, contributing to the organization, coordination and goal execution of the Center and it’s programs.  The Program Manager oversees the CHLI’s Leadership portfolio including the Leadership Academies for the Public Health and alumni network; as well as the new public health workforce hub including Public Health Training Center, Public Health Infrastructure region 9 hub and the California Academic Health Department.  Considerable independent judgment is required of the incumbent to satisfactorily perform the job.  This position is a 100% FTE.

Employment Type: Full Time.

Full salary range for this position: $87,396 to $130,602 per year. The typical hiring range for this position is from $87,396 (minimum) to $108,999 (midpoint), based on 100% FTE. The starting salary is determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder engagement and partnership cultivation with a variety of CHLI key stakeholders and partners including local and state health departments, non-profits and other health officials.
  • Contributing member of CHLI management and Operations team.
  • Program development of the Workforce portfolio and its programs.
  • Oversight for daily operations of Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health.
  • Creates, organizes and prepares presentations for CHLI meetings, trainings and conferences.
  • Establish and manage the workplans and implementation for all CHLI Public Health Workforce Hub related programs and networks.
  • Coordinates and manages internal and external meetings, trainings and conferences.
  • Partner on development and management of CHLI workforce program hub “extension” on CHLI website including posting material regularly to training, TA and other learning opportunities.
  • Management of programmatic content including webinar content and weekly/ monthly partner newsletters for CHLI Public Health Workforce Hub related programming.
  • Daily supervision/ oversight of Program staff and CHLI -based VISTA members as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum seven years related field providing project management, coordination and/or administrative functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, or substitute with four additional years of related experience.

  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Ability to oversee and manage work plans.
  • Experience in newsletter and other correspondence preparation.

  • Ability to make independent decisions following standard policies and procedures.
