Multipurpose Prevention Technologies: Maximising Positive Synergies

In recognition of women’s health as a global priority, the World Health Organization (WHO) has sought to identify actions that can help reduce unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), like HIV, worldwide. Currently, condoms are the only available products that protect from both.

This editorial, from PHI's Bethany Young Holt and colleagues, discusses multipurpose prevention technologies (MPTs) as an alternative approach for comprehensive prevention and notes the increasing investment in developing safe, but efficacious options that also meet the unique needs of women.
