The PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program offers recent global public health graduates yearlong fellowships with guidance from leading global health experts from the CDC. Fellows are placed in Atlanta and CDC offices abroad where they will work on the front lines of global health while developing technical and professional skills.

The PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program is a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded program that offers recent global public health graduates from Council on Education in Public Health accredited schools and programs the exciting opportunity to participate in yearlong fellowships with guidance from leading global health experts from CDC.

Fellows are placed in Atlanta and in CDC offices abroad where they will work on the front lines of global health while developing the technical and professional skills needed to make meaningful contributions to today’s global health challenges. 2018-2019 marked the third year of a five year cooperative agreement with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

PHI/CDC 2019 fellows at a glance by location and trackIn 2019, the PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program supported 49 Fellows located at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention host offices around the world. The program recruited, accepted, on-boarded and trained 25 new Fellows before beginning their posts with CDC, along with providing both new and renewing Fellows with critical program support while in the field.

  • HIV Prevention

53% of Fellows were based in Sub-Saharan Africa, 37% in the U.S. at CDC Headquarters and 10% in Latin America and the Caribbean.
