Community Benefit

Community Benefit refers to a broad spectrum of services, activities and resources that nonprofit hospitals and health systems allocate to improve community health and meet their tax-exempt requirements. For decades, PHI has provided leadership on community benefit policy, regulation and best practices through state, hospital and community partnerships in California and across the country. We work with hospitals and health systems, community development leaders, local and state public health agencies, community-based organizations and other partners to conduct Community Health Needs Assessments; develop and launch community benefit programs; measure short- and long-term impact in communities; provide consultation and TA; and more.
