Position Summary
C/NET Solutions CNExT Cancer Registry software is used by Cancer Registrars for meeting mandated cancer reporting as well as analysis of the cancer population at their medical center. Together with our Cancer Alert System, efficiency in identifying and reporting of cancer is realized. We meet HIPAA and security regulations and allow remote access. All C/NET Solutions software can be run in mixed technology environments where the highest standards in database security or remote access are required.
The Business Analyst I of C/NET Solutions is responsible for providing project management and coordination of installations of CNExT and CAS for both existing and new C/NET Solutions customers, coordination of conversion of cancer registry data, CAS customizations projects, and coordination of other customer projects. The position is also responsible for technical writing and documentation as well as responsible for various types of communications with customers. The Business Analyst I reports directly to the Information Technology Manager of C/NET Solutions. The Business Analyst I is directly responsible for work assigned. The Business Analyst I solves problems within standard policies, practices and procedures. The position is closely supervised and has little or no latitude to alter work methods or approaches.
This is a remote regular 8-hour full-time position with a standard workday schedule of 7am – 4pm, PT (including one hour lunch break). The incumbent is expected to work outside C/NET Solutions business hours to provide services to customers who are outside of the US as needed. C/NET Solutions’ business hours is 5am – 5pm, PT.
Full pay range for this position: $33.80 to $49.00 per hour. The typical hiring range for this position is from $33.80 (minimum) to $41.40 (midpoint) per hour. The starting wage is determined using a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity consideration and budget availability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conversions – 25%
- Serves as project manager and data analyst for customer installations and data conversions.
- Serves as project manager for customers exiting to new vendor.
- Analyzes customers’ data conversion needs and develops export/import plans as needed including creation of necessary import/export file layouts.
- Recommends solutions for customers’ software conversion capabilities and state reporting requirements.
- Performs conversion of physician data exports into format used by CNExT software.
- Analyzes r test conversion data results, reports issues to Programming staff and assists with corrections.
- Assists customers’ technical personnel with installation of CNExT software and converted databases.
- Trains customer registry staff in the use of CNExT cancer registry software.
- Assists customer registry staff with review of conversion data.
- Provides frontline CNExT support to facility staff and works with customers until conversion related issues are resolved.
Cancer Alert System (CAS) customizations/enhancements/installations – 25%:
- Serves as project manager for CAS customization projects, enhancements and installations of CAS modules, CAS Listener, CAS Processor, CAS Sender, CAS Importer and CAS Receiver.
- Assists customers technical personnel with installation of the CAS software.
- Assists customers with analysis and modification of CAS Rules (Search Terms and ICD code filtering).
- Trains facility staff in the use of CAS software.
- Provides frontline support for CAS software and works with customers until CAS related issues are resolved.
Documentation– 5%
- Develops and maintains user and staff technical documentation related to conversions, CAS and other projects documentation including training manuals, instructional documents for installation and updating of software, other instructional technical documents, videos and other technologies.
- Submits ideas for e/notes newsletter articles and researches and writes articles as assigned.
Customer Projects – 15%:
- Serves as project manager and performs the migration of existing customer databases from Microsoft Access platform to SQL Server platform. Tests databases and assists facility IT personnel with installation of migrated databases.
- Serves as project manager and performs the merging of single-hospital databases into multi-hospital databases. Tests merged database and assist facility IT personnel with installation of merged databases.
- Serves as project manager for medical record number conversion projects.
- Provides Programming Department with specifications for queries. Tests queries and assists facility IT staff with application of queries if requested.
- Serves as project manager for state/central registries in providing shared follow-up files. Provides data format requirements to state/central registry, tests data format and trains facility staff on proper procedure for importing data into CNExT.
- Provides front line support for all project related issues while project is executing.
- Provides initial training as needed for the customer project.
- Serves as project manager for customer specified projects.
Technical Support -10%
- Supports CNExT and CAS Software.
- Provides CNExT and CAS training.
- Assists technical support staff with complex support and technical issues (level 2 support).
Software Testing – 5%
- Participates in routine software testing of CNExT and CAS products.
- Documents testing results and reports specifics to management and programming staff.
Help File and Metafile work -12%
- Serves as a back up to help files and Metafile work.
Other
- Access to Protected Health Information. This job requires access to Protected Health Information. Employee will be responsible for reading, acknowledging and complying with all C/NET Solutions and Public Health Institute polices pertaining to confidentiality and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Occasionally works more than 40 hours a week and on weekends.
- Works outside of C/NET Solutions’ business hours as needed.
- Performs other essential duties as assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – 3%
- Attends workgroup calls relating to cancer registry.
- Attends optional training sessions or webinars.
- Mentors interns or new hires.
- Performs other non-essential duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Oncology Data Specialist – Certified (ODS-C).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business management, or substitute with four additional years of related experience.
Other Qualifications
- Knowledge of CAS software and CNExT Cancer Registry software.
- Knowledge of Constant Contact CRM package.
- Knowledge of use in Jitbit Helpdesk package.
- Ability to analyze complex cancer registry data during conversion review process and make recommendations for data corrections preferred.
- Knowledge of cancer registry practice and standards as provided by American College of Surgeons (ACoS) preferred.
- Knowledge of cancer registry reporting requirements as provided by state cancer registry departments, national guidelines North American Association of Cancer Registries (NAACCR) and Survey Epidemiology and End Results (SEER), and international reporting requirements preferred.
- Strong ability to work in a team-based environment, often in a lead capacity to ensure project execution.
- Strong SQL Server administration and SQL programming skills preferred.
- Understanding of CNExT software function including knowledge of data entry, reporting, and reports capabilities, and import/export procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills (word processing and database applications).
- Ability to train peers.
- Extensive knowledge of software products including (but not limited to):
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Microsoft Windows
- Microsoft Office 365 Products
- Microsoft Project
- Text editors
- Compression or encryption software
- Helpdesk software
- Extensive knowledge of Internet applications such VPN, and Remote Desktop Connection.
