Sexually active women can be exposed to various interrelated risks of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Although there has been growth in the use of male and female condoms, they do not sufficiently meet the diverse needs of women across the globe. Multipurpose prevention technologies (MPTs) are innovative products currently in development as an alternative approach to address those needs.
