Fellowship Expectations
- Attend virtual monthly fellowship meetings from October 2025 through July 2026.
- Design and implement a dedicated plan to advance the delivery of reproductive healthcare from the emergency department. This plan can be at an individual hospital, health system, a provider population and/or another area that informs the space, such as research. Projects may include:
- Initiate stakeholder engagement to implement culture change. This may include adding necessary medications to the hospital formulary, implementing new order sets, and educating peers.
- Initiate implementation of at least one Access Bridge protocol in your ED. (Protocols include: ED-based medication management of early pregnancy loss, contraception initiation, emergency contraception, ectopic pregnancy management when OB may not be on-site, and medication abortion, where feasible.)
- Initiate training of emergency medicine clinicians and staff at your hospital about project protocols using comprehensive Grand Rounds decks and other project tools.
- Initiate or enhance a research project that advances Access Bridge’s mission.
- Conduct at least one activity to advance Access Bridge’s strategy and work. Activities may include: submit a presentation to a professional or academic conference, submit an op-ed or article to a news outlet, or conduct a media interview.
Note: Fellows will have access to expert coaching and technical assistance to conduct all of this work.
I am continuously inspired on our calls about this work and find the protocols to be very helpful. I use them often on shift when I have patients with early pregnancy loss.Access Bridge Fellow
