In Memoriam: Duane Dauner

Duane Dauner died in a car accident on July 13 while driving his 1957 vintage Ford near his Palm Desert home. Duane was a true icon in healthcare and a role model for state hospital associations. He served as the President and CEO for the California Hospital Association for 33 years, until his retirement in 2017. He constantly sought innovative ways to improve health care and the lives of people who depend on that care. Duane was masterful in policy and legislative solutions and also mentored many early career health leaders. PHI sends its condolences to Duane’s family and his wide network of friends and colleagues.
